 My 2 cents on cleaning rifles...
I like to keep the outside of them wiped down alot thoughout the year with a silicon cloth. I make a point of running through a bore snake cleaning system everytime I return from the range except for the last time prior to taking it hunting. There was a really good article I read and about oil in the bore and how it can throw off your first shot. I have seen it myself, with the first shot fired out a clean oiled bore not ending up in the same tight group as the remaining shots.
