ive got to say that i agree with going the salt and mineral lick way. i like to mix it up. i put out a deer can lick, and once theyd crushed the stump, i put a trophy rock there. the deer literally dug a whole almost 3 feet deep there and while in stand one day in october i had a 3 yr old 10 pt lay down in the whole and roll in the mud. i cant say that you can beat food plots, but deer need vitamins and minerals year round, and ive got a lottt of pics of bucks using the licks during daylight hours. especially if you put it close to a bedding area.
