GFD- I had that concern as well but the key thing is to NOT put this contraption out until they are ready to shed their antlers. Now, nobody can 100% guarantee when the deer will drop their antlers, but what I did was waited until I saw some other bucks that have dropped one or both sides of their racks. Typically, when you start seeing bucks loosing their racks in one area, they will be loose enough to pop off.
