Just bought a new Ruger mk 22/45 Target with a 5.5 barrel. Does anyone use one for squirrels and if so what type of scope? Iplan on using mine for target and small game.First semi auto I haveowned just curious as how good the are.
Don't know about the 22/45, but I have shot the Ruger Mark III's.
Extremely accurate pistol -- used it hunting gophers out on the prairies of Montana.
When all you can see of the critter is his head sitting above his hole in the ground, you have a very small target to aim at. Could usually hit the critter and when I did miss, I usually blamed it on operator error and not the pistol.
I put A scope on my single six and if I had it to do over I would put a red dot on it. I put a red dot on my 44 mag and think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Eventually I will do the same with my single six in 17 HMR
I agree wih you guys on the open sights unfortunately my eyes wont let me do that any more,no fun getting old,but I still love to hunt. I have had to scope all my guns.
