Good choice on the model 70. I have it chambered in 300 WM and love it.
Two recommendations on scopes
1) Bausch and Lomb elite 4200 (second hand on eBay, now branded bushnell don't know about quality ) 2.5 x 10
2) Nikon Buckmaster 3x9
My b&l has been on the rifle ten years and has never lost zero. I take it out before using to test and it has always been on.
