mdoughty, buckfever, GOOD POSTING! I'm with them. He may not smell YOU because of your scent precautions but he's most likely using the wind to smell another deer. In doing this he keeps out of sight in cover away from danger. When he doesn't see another deer they'll usually lose interest and move on. You will have to be in a "double down wind" situation where you position yourself to be behind the area where the buck will be while he thinks he's out of danger down wind of the scrape. Consider wind direction and thick cover areas. Deer will slip in and out of an area quickly and silently so be aware. GOOD LUCK.
