BF, 30# will be plenty. I ran a 18# on a 15' Meyers sports pal canoe and pushed it fine with two adults in it. In fact on low speed I'd troll for Pike and walleye. Just get a deep cycle marine battery for it. I always had good luck with interstate deep cycle marine batteries.
My point of getting the trolling motor is so I can make shorter trips to creek and river. I am hoping it will push me upstream. Its much to hard and Im much to lazy to paddle upstream on the river. Did it once because I was determined to hit a good trout spot again. Will most likely never do it again. It should give us the option to go fish the creek and part of the river and just come back the same way. No more having to leave a vehicle next to a bridge so we have a way home.
