20 gauge sabot slug, .308 win(best choice), 7mm mag. All of these are good for deer and have light recoil. But if you daughter is afraid of recoil (or is smaller framed) the .243 would work fine. But due to it's size, it is less forgiving of poor shot placement. If she can shoot 3'' .410 shells she should be able to handle even a featherweight .243, in my experience. just my 2 cents.
