calls aren't a necessity and you could get either buck or doe with out them. fawn bleats will sometimes bring in a doe. doe bleats and doe grunts will sometimes bring in a doe or a buck. and buck grunts can sometimes bring in a buck or a doe. that said they may have no effect or may even make them leave. its a "get the right call in the ear of the right deer at the right time" and they will work. i'd read the package for the use of the call and the rest is try them. they don't talk allot in the woods, i don't believe or i haven't seen it, but that may have allot to do with deer densities. the more deer the more you could hear communication.
