welcome to the site and good for you getting your kids buckshot said getting to know your hunting area is key.its also an easy way to get the kids involved as all you need are boots and strong dont sit still for long so just get them used to be outside and being quiet and sitting still.hunting does not need to be expensive although it can decide what gear is esential the rest is toys .you need weapon, warm cloths ,a knife drag rope, tags, compass, map, and determination.the rest you can add too as the years go by.good luck and keep us posted

Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison.
Genesis 27:3 "The thinking deer hunter should mature through three phases during his hunting life. First phase, "I need to kill a deer." Second phase, I want to harvest a nice deer. And last phase, we must manage this resource so our children and their children can experience the grand tradition of good deer hunting." - Jim Slinsky
